Susan Maxwell M.D.
Susan M. Maxwell, M.D., FACOG is a Reproductive Endocrinologist (Fertility Specialist) at Southern California Reproductive Center in Santa Barbara, California. She is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Maxwell received her medical degree with honors from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Her medical training was completed at the New York University School of Medicine in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology where she obtained the Honor Resident Award. Her subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility was also completed at New York University. She held faculty positions at the New York University School of Medicine and the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in New York before relocating to California.
Dr. Maxwell treats a variety of patients with infertility including those with low ovarian reserve, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), recurrent pregnancy loss, uterine fibroids or polyps, endometriosis and adenomyosis, tubal disease, uterine scar tissue, and congenital anomalies of the uterus.
She specializes in treatments including in vitro fertilization, elective egg freezing, egg freezing prior to cancer treatments, embryo banking, and third-party reproduction (donor gamete and gestational carrier cycles). Dr. Maxwell has a special interest in minimally invasive reproductive surgery and performs robotic and laparoscopic surgery for uterine fibroids and endometriosis as well as hysteroscopic procedures. She has published extensively on Preimplanatation Genetic Testing for aneuploidy and embryonic mosaicism and provides counseling to her patients on the use of novel genetic technologies to prevent the passage of genetic conditions to offspring. She treats patients with all family building needs and is an advocate for expanding fertility and egg freezing benefits to all patients.
